When will we have all of the anagrams back? Why do they go down from time to time? LaWanda
What seems to be the problem? I looked, and there's a word for the day. I posted them all the way through the middle of the month.
This happens each fall and each spring when the time changes. I don't know why the admins haven't figured this out yet and fixed whatever programming issue needs to be fixed so that we don't have to remind them again in six months.
OK, it's now been three days since the time changed, and even though the extreme anagram game is now available, the rest of the premium word games are not. And you admins want us to pay for premium memberships, right?
I don't know about the premium ones, but I do know the other anagram games, standard and speed, seem to be generally unaffected.
Also, I've always wondered this, and I sometimes muck about with anagram games myself but...here's my question. Where exactly is the thrill in using a program, script or other method of looking up anagrams in order to get all the dailies? I day in and day out see the same group of about ten people or so (sometimes they shuffle in and out) always getting perfect or near-perfect scores, and I wonder if there's something I'm missing.
Those who cheat by using generators. Like you I don't know what fun they get from it, everyone knows what they do. LaWanda

I really wish people wouldn't hijack other people's posts and change the subject. Go make your own post complaining about anagram generators. I want the admins to see this and realize that once again, the time has changed, and the premium word games, including between the words, are screwed up. Supposedly these people are intelligent enough to create this website, so why can't they catch on to the fact that twice a year these games get screwed up because of the time changes.
I really think those of us who pay for a premium membership should rethink renewing when our current membership is up.
If you're paying twenty-something dollars for anagrams, or if a couple of word games are enough to stop you renewing your subscription...well, I don't know what to say. All I know is that CLs are almost completely inactive with the notable exception of Anthony, new features don't really seem to show up that often, and twenty-odd bucks a year seems a bit much to pay for lax administration in general. I think the anagrams are a small symptom of a much bigger problem. I also would like to see this site survive. All I'm really doing is pleading for a little perspective. Getting a couple more active CLs is probably much higher on the priority list than fixing a couple of games, as well it should be. The fact that neither is visibly being done speaks volumes.
But what good is it to have a bunch of cl's if we can't really do anything? We certainly can't fix the broken anagrams or the weather feature, or the sports pool thing.
It's a waste of your time to get angry because people use word generaters. First of all, there's nothing in the TOS that says you are not allowed to use them. That would be retarded quite honestly. Does it really alter your life if someone uses the generater to get in front of you? There are people on here who have a lot of time to kill, yet they want to use it it and do something to the fullest. Don't call it cheating when there's no rule that says you aren't allowed to do it.
Now, with that out of the way, let me explain something else. Another pointless reason to get worked up is when something stops working, in this case the anagrams. Becky mentioned this has happened before. So it is not something unexpected, so to speak. Yet you continue to pay for a Premium membership knowing that this is going to happen? And you also know that the admins do not log in regurlarly to monitor the problems, bugs, etc. that the site has. As Anthony has said countless times before, and I can imagine past community leaders have said, they can't fix this problem. Reports made to the admins don't seem to do much. So if that pisses you off enough and you don't want to spend 25 dollars because technology isn't flawless, so to speak, then so be it. Don't buy the membership and complain because it doesn't do anything. That's the sad truth, folks.
First off, I don't think anyone was angry about the "cheaters". All they were doing is wondering why people bother doing it, and wondering what fun they get out of it.
Second, Becky, chill. Board topics wander in all kinds of directions, that's how board topics work. It doesn't mean you can't get back on topic (which, lo and behold, we all did).
Third, you all are absolutely right: this is an admin problem, not a Cl problem, and if the admins won't bother maintaining, then don't bother paying.
instead of complaining about this recurring problem, why not stop paying for premium membership? if you're truly bothered by it, why do you keep wasting your money, knowing damn well it's gonna happen every year?
Well, what I want to know, is if the admins know this is a problem, and they really care about this site, why don't they change it? Surely, there's enough computer savvi people running the site that would know how to fix it. It's an admin thing, not a CL thing, for sure. I have always paid for this site before, because I believe in what they are doing, and this is the first year I've seen it get this bad, and if they don't fix it, or explain to us why it's not fixed, then they obviously don't care, and I won't be renewing, which will make me very sad indeed, because I have always got so much fun out of this site.
